Scholarship Program 2007



THE PROGRAM:
Each year at its State Convention, the NFB of Alabama gives a $500 scholarship to recognize achievement by blind scholars. All applicants for scholarships must:
  1. Be a legally blind lawful resident of the state of Alabama.
  2. Currently attend or be scheduled to attend a college or university in the 2007 fall semester. Attendance must be full-time, or the applicant must be employed full-time and attend school part-time.
  3. Attend the 2007 State Convention on March March 16-18 in Tuscaloosa Alabama.
CRITERIA:
Scholarships are awarded for:
  1. Academic Excellence
  2. Community service
  3. Financial need.
MEMBERSHIP:
The National Federation of the Blind of Alabama is an organization dedicated to creating opportunity for all blind persons. Applicants for NFB of Alabama scholarships are not required to be members of the organization.

HOW TO APPLY:
To apply for the NFB of Alabama scholarship you must:
  1. Complete and return the application
  2. Attach all additional documents requested
  3. Obtain recommendations from: (may be mailed direct from individual to committee)
    • Any President of an NFB chapter (Chapter information found at our web site.)
    • School principal or other school official
    • Other persons as you desire
  4. Transcript of grades (school will mail directly to Scholarship Committee)
  5. Forward application and all required documents to Scholarship Committee.
  6. Deadline: February 14, 2007. Winner will be notified via phone February 18, 2007.
PRESENTATION OF AWARD:
At the NFB of Alabama State Convention Banquet luncheon, on March 17th at The Beautiful Four Points by Sheraton Hotel, 320 Paul Bryant Drive, Tuscaloosa, Al 35401.

COST: None.
NFB of Alabama will defray all costs for scholarship winners to attend the convention, and winners must participate in all planned activities, beginning on Friday March 3rd.
